Rug Pulls 101

A “rug pull” is when devs hype a coin, hoard tokens, then sell everything and disappear, crashing the price.

  • Example: Squid Game token (SQUID) in 2021—pumped to $2,800, then devs pulled $3M, leaving it at $0.

  • Signs: No locked liquidity (tokens devs can’t dump), anonymous teams, or crazy promises (e.g., “100x in a week!”).

  • Tip: Use memecoin.doctor (wink) to check holder concentration—if one wallet owns >30%, beware!

  • Bottom line: If it smells like a scam, it probably is—verify before you buy.
